A year ago Western Carwash Association, after a lengthy vetting process, contracted with Association Resource Center to provide association management services. Holly Macriss came onboard as Executive Director during our pivotal transition year. Utilizing her strong background in Membership Service and Leadership, Holly built a top-notch team that delivered a stellar Convention & Tradeshow in 2009 and increased WCA membership by 15% - impressive at any time, but a stunning accomplishment in a year when most associations saw a decline in participation.

At the end of 2009 Holly announced plans to step down from the position as Executive Director of the Western Carwash Association. Though she had accomplished great things for the WCA and made some wonderful connections within our industry, an opportunity presented itself that no one could fault her for accepting.

Our dedicated search team -- led by the WCA Executive Board and working closely with ARC President Steve Hamilton -- has spent the past several weeks looking high and low for a stellar, talented leader to take the helm of WCA. We were grateful to have had a very strong set of applicants for the position.

Now, I am pleased to announce that Ross Hutchings, CAE will be the Western Carwash Association’s next Executive Director.

Ross comes to the Western Carwash Association with 30 years of Association management experience, including tenures with the California Independent Oil Marketers Association and the California Peace Officers & Police Chiefs Associations. A Certified Association Executive (CAE) for over 14 years, Ross is recognized as a member of an elite group of professionals dedicated to superior association management. In addition to these excellent qualifications, Ross also has experience as a business owner himself – giving him a unique perspective on our industry and membership.

I look forward to working with Ross, our incredible staff, and the amazing volunteers that make this organization a powerful regional industry association. The WCA has grown in both size and influence, and our dedicated staff and volunteers have built it into an industry leader for education, political advocacy and trade show conventions. The coming years will present us with tremendous challenges as we face legislative and economic hurdles. Working together, we have the power, resourcefulness, and creativity to make a huge impact.

Ross Hutchings and our team at Association Resource Center are exactly what the Western Carwash Association and the industry needs right now. I have enormous confidence that they will lead the WCA with dedication, passion, and a steady hand.

Ross’ first official day on the job is February 1st. Please join us in welcoming him to the Western Carwash Association family.
