The California Chamber of Commerce conducted an interview with California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) Director John Duncan, and DIR Chief Financial Officer Greg Edwards on Thursday, December 17, to educate businesses about the increase in the Workers’ Compensation Premium Assessment (WCPA) for the year.

WCA President, Jerry Nix, wrote a letter to the editors of these magazines and encourages you to do the same. WCA Members Comply with the Labor Laws FOLSOM, CA, May 7, 2009 – The recent sweeps by the California Department of Industrial Relations Division of the Labor Standards Enforcement at the end of April resulted in $771,850 in fines, but only 7%, or $53,700, of the total fines came from Western Carwash Association (WCA) members.

Western Carwash Association Roadshow Tours Build on Success! Christina Shupe, WCA Membership
The WCA's new Roadshow program is has seen phenomenal growth in its first year. From an Inaugural Tour in Arizona to the follow up in Colorado earlier this month, attendance increased by 133%! Over 140 operators and vendors participated in a tour of five carwashes and three manufacturing sites in Denver and the surrounding area.
Our tour kicked off with registration and a full breakfast at the Hi-Performance Wash Systems factory in Denver. Mrs. Wells's homemade muffins were served along with breakfast burritos, Krispy Kreme donuts, and Starbucks coffee. Our bellies full and our bags heavy with free gifts from the Tour Sponsors, we crossed the street to check out the brand new Eco Express Car Wash. This express exterior wash features a 130' tunnel and was designed for high volume, high profit traffic.

WCA members have the option to participate in the Western Carwash Association Waster Conservation Certification Program (WCA/WCCP). This program is a tool for car wash operators to maximize water conservation efforts at their car wash facilities and to educate consumers and water utility companies as to the benefits of professional car washing as it pertains to water conservation and protecting the environment.

Quick Quack Car Wash was ranked as the 612th fastest growing private company in the United States by Inc. magazine. Quick Quack is the first carwash company to be included in the publication’s annual Inc. 5000 list, according to a press release.
Two carwash employees were injured last week when a vehicle being moved from the tunnel to a drying area pinned a female worker against the van she was drying.
Harlem and Randolph Car Wash in Forest Park, Ill., played host last week to a film crew shooting a Chevrolet commercial, according to a report by the Forest Park Review. Filming was part of an eight-day shoot in several locations in the Chicago
